Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
